On Saturday morning, Aunt Caitlin was kind enough to join the three of us for a special event. We met up with some other local families, including one of Finley's school classmates, at Animal Adventures.
Finley waited a bit pensively outside until it was time to go in.
First, we went into the tropical (humid temperatured) reptile room. There were tortoises, turtles, and tanks of other creatures all around us!
This lizard took a liking to Finley immediately.
Thank goodness Caitlin was with us since Finley needed to be lifted up to see many of the critters and he needed extra encouragement to touch them. Finley remains a cautious fellow as he approaches his 3rd birthday!
But he got into it!
Caitlin even touched a venomous snake! We couldn't get Finley to do it, but good effort, Caits!
Dagny was a good sport :)
Then, we went into another room and got to touch some cuter, softer animals. Finley pet a bunny and a hedgehog, but couldn't be convinced to pet a skunk (who had been surgically prevented from spraying). I couldn't blame him on that one!!
This room also had chinchillas, rats, a small fox, and two beautiful owls. Here's a picture that Caitlin snapped--pretty photogenic owl, right?
Last room had large tanks/pools of alligators and amazing animals like kangaroos, ring-tailed lemurs, porcupines, and who knows what else I have forgotten.
We had to be patient to pet the jumpy kangaroo, but it was worth the wait!
Finally, we headed outside to see two foxes and a lynx before hanging out with the farm animals. Chickens roaming free, roosters, a pig, goats, doves, ducks, and a sheep or two.
They brought out some goat food and Caitlin showed Finley how to feed them and surprisingly, he grabbed a handful and gave it a whirl.
He got spooked, but he did it!
Animal Adventures was a big hit and it was great to have Caitlin along for the fun!
