My parents were kind enough to fly up to have Thanksgiving with us this year. Well, it was more than kind since we invited them up and then asked my mom to cook everything :) Aren't I a wonderful daughter?? My mom brought her cookbooks and my dad brought his guitar, so while Grammy buzzed around the kitchen with minimal assistance from me, Dan-dad (granddad) played some duets with Finley.
And lucky for Finley, Granddad is very trusting with his instrument and let Finley play it all by himself.
At least twice a day, Finley would ask his Dan-dad to "play tar" and he would happily oblige. Finley even wore his guitar shirt!
When it was time to eat, Finley was excited to sit down with all of us. He had helped make placecards and happily passed them out. We filled up Finley's plate with all the trimmings and he studied everything carefully.
After much inspection, he decided only to eat his string beans and have seconds of squash. No turkey, so mashed potatoes and gravy...his loss!
And then he had seconds on beans on Dan's lap.
He entertained himself with trucks while the rest of us finished up and then it was time for pie. After the plates were cleared and our bellies were full, Finley used up the remaining stickers from the placecards to make a lovely picture with Grammy.
After dinner, my dad built a HUGE tower using all of Finley's blocks and much to our relief, he did not want to knock it over. Instead, he wanted to park some of his trucks underneath.
As many Thanksgivings around the country do, we ended our Turkey Day with some football watching.
Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!
