Well, I guess I posted that birthday post too early in the day because there was much more birthday celebration to come!
I went to the kids' preschool camp to read some of Dagny's favorite books, do a project, and eat cake! All the kiddos from both classrooms came in and I read Where is the Green Sheep? (although Finley read most of it) and then The Little Mouse, the Big Hungry Bear and the Red Ripe Strawberry. Both books were big hits and then I put out the big paper strawberries (with curled pipecleaner tendrils!) I had made. The teachers and I walked around and put dots of glue on all the strawberries and the kids got to put buttons on to be the seeds.
Dagny carefully selected each of her buttons.Finley was proud of his and even announced that he made it for Dagny.
There was quite an age range of the kids (Dagny being nearly the youngest and Finley being the oldest) but they did great! Some of the kids kept asking for more glue spots to add more and more buttons :) It's good to be an early childhood teacher on summer vacation!!
Next up, it was cake time! Finley's class had helped to bake a cake for Dagny (and America) and everyone sang Happy Birthday in both English and Hebrew to her before she confidently blew out the two candles.
What a special school birthday celebration for Dagny :) so glad I got to participate!
The kids came home to crash for their naps and Dan arrived home just in time to help tuck them in. When we got them up hours later, we headed out to the toy store so Dagny could pick out a birthday stuffed animal. She, of course, wanted to choose the two identical ones that she already has at home (my plan to let her choose was backfiring!!) but eventually she changed her mind and chose a small husky puppy that she wanted to name "Dog." She was pleased as punch!
We got home to play for a while and Dagny toted her new dog around until dinner. The final birthday event was opening presents from Grammy and Granddad (one of which was a book that we had just read and LOVED at the bookstore yesterday, what a great coincidence!) and one last cupcake.
