Happy Halloween, Finley!

We celebrated Halloween here last night and Finley was dressed to impress as a construction worker.
His favorite accessory might have been his halloween bucket! He was concerned that Dan and I did not have costumes so he let Dan wear his hard hat and I wore a funny winter hat shaped like a flower.  Dagny was all bundled up in her stroller but truth be told, she was dressed like a boy wearing one of Finley's blue fleece suits so at least she was in a costume of sorts :)

We headed out and despite getting really spooked at the first house we went to across the street (kids dressed up with scary masks were there), we made it to about 6 houses before the novelty had worn off and Finley was pleased enough with his bucket of treats.  Plus, he was fairly distracted and concerned about "those scary guys" who continued to trick or treat nearby.  For those that don't know, Finley's a bit of a fraidy cat and this situation was tricky to navigate so when he said he was "all done"--we said "let's go home and pick a treat to eat."  Dan tried to reassure Finley as we walked back home that the kids were just dressed up in costumes, they weren't real scary monsters.  He asked, "You aren't really a construction worker, right?" to which Finley said, "I am a construction worker, Daddy."  Well, so much for that logic!

At home, Finley dug into his half-filled bucket and picked out a KitKat so Dan showed him how to break it apart into sticks.
Then they both took a bite.
To Dan's dismay, Finley wasn't a fan of this delicious treat and he asked for some plain chocolate--thankfully there were a few Hershey bars in the bucket, too. All in all, a successful first Halloween experience.  Trick or Treat!

Now that Halloween is over, Finley knows his birthday is next. Give me strength for the next two weeks as I explain that his birthday is coming...over and over and over...OMG, he's going to be 3!
