On Saturday morning, we joined a group of Mixters and headed up Rattlesnake Mountain. We popped Finley into the Beco and then hoisted him up on Dan's back. I hadn't checked the height and weight limits of our beloved "pouch" in months, but figured Finley would let us know if he was uncomfortable. Ha! He wasn't so sure when we first buckled him in, but soon settled in for the walk to the trail and the vertical trek up.
Dan was a real champ and Finley loved the ride! Whenever Dan had to crawl up some rocks, Finley would giggle---I think he liked all the jostling and wasn't just laughing at the hard work his dad was doing.
It was drizzling a bit, but the trees kept us fairly protected. We did not see too much wildlife, but Cousin Adam managed to catch an adorable red newt that Finley thought was pretty cool. There were some tricky parts to climb on the trail, but all three of us made it just fine. I was certainly huffing and puffing by the time we got up to the top and I wasn't carrying an extra 25 pounds, but the view at the top was breathtaking and made it all worth it!
My dad was on the hike, too, and everyone seemed to enjoy the reward at the top.
A nice family shot, thanks Cousin Adam!
Finley was thrilled to walk around the rocks and while we were right on top of him, he still managed to have some good independent fun. Rocks, sticks, water!I wasn't thrilled with this part of the fun as Finley kept using me as a handtowel, but oh well.
After a posed shot with all the hikers, it was time to make our way down. Finley got back into the pouch and chit chatted most of the way. He and Dan were singing (mostly Dan) as we neared the end of the trail, when suddenly there was silence...

After all, it's hard work to be carried up a mountain, isn't it? I love that even though he was totally passed out, he was still holding on tight to one of the straps. Great work Team Forseter, let's do this again soon!
