If You Build It...

With rainy weather in the forecast during the latter part of our visit, we had to think of some indoor play options.  Legoland has recently opened a "Discovery Center" about twenty minutes from GG and Grandpa's house, so we decided to check it out despite the outrageous ticket prices (thank goodness Dagny was free!!).
The neatest part of the visit was the Lego NYC that totally captured Finley's attention, he walked around and around it and we went back through it midway through our visit. Dan and I were equally as impressed with the details of it all!
There were some buttons to push that moved things or in this case, lit up the firetruck lights and set off the emergency sirens.
And a new addition, a Lego Lyndhurst Castle (where we got married in 2006!).  Awesome.
Once inside the play area, Dagny took off for the toddler area that was full of really big, but lightweight lego bricks.
She went in headfirst and enjoyed being surrounded by all the blocks.
She loved this lego dog, probably because it's one of her favorite words to say.
She was pretty good at connecting the Duplos, too.
Finley and Dan came to visit us and began working on a project of their own.
 Proud lego architect!
The Lego Friends collection was a big attraction, a Lego division aimed at girls.  Dagny fell for it.
But the biggest hit with Finley was the racing track. So we built a race car and then he got to line it up with all the other kids' cars and then the gate would drop and the cars would roll down like soap box derby cars.  It was pretty cool and he was in heaven!
To say he did it a million times may have been an understatement.

A pricey endeavor, yes, but now we know what it's all about and it did inspire Murray to get bring down all of Dan's old Legos from the attic which made for an amazing finale to our NY visit.
