Butterfly Hunters

With this summer's continued blah-weather, it's been hard to make plans since the rain inevitably arrives.  We had hoped to join some of our friends at a nearby beach/lake last Thursday, but that got cancelled (boo) and so I decided to use a groupon I had purchased for a trip to the Butterfly Place over in Westford.  After growing our own butterflies, I figured Finley would really enjoy seeing a whole space filled with them.
As soon as we walked in, he spotted one!
The butterflies were plentiful and not terribly shy, which made Finley a bit uneasy as they were flying all around him and he wasn't loving it :( But we pressed on and saw lots of beautiful butterflies.
Finley was excited to spot a green butterfly!
But he was still a little nervous about the flying creatures all over, so we took a snack break at the picnic tables outside.  He talked all about the butterflies while he snacked and seemed pleased to go back in :) Oh and yes, Dagny, was with us too - happily in the baby backpack getting to see everything from up high.
We found a koi pond.

And some funny little birds.
By now, Finley was really into the whole experience now and had fun dodging butterflies and finding them on flowers.
We also went into a different room to look at some amazing caterpillars before we left.
Finley couldn't resist popping his head into the butterfly sign one more time :)
Looking at the clock, I realized we needed to grab some lunch so I used my trusty iphone to find a local pizza shop and called ahead to order a small pie.  Both kids inhaled their pizza and then had some blueberries that I had packed.
The usual lunch crowd was quite taken with the small customers dining near the window :)
