Finding the Forseters

Soon enough we will be the Four-seters (I'm about 36 weeks along or so) and then pretty soon after that, you will have to find us in our new house! Yes indeed, who could think of a better time to buy a house, sell a house, pack, move, unpack, and settle in :)  Let me catch you up on how we got here...

We have been house hunting since late January since a new baby will surely make our otherwise lovely house seem a bit too small.  After lots of online searching, open houses, early evening house showings, emails galore with our agent, failed offers, and lots of budget crunching---we came upon our dream house the week before the Memorial Day weekend!  It is in the town of Acton, about 15-20 minutes from where we are now in Arlington.  This house is on a lovely, quiet street that seems to us to be the perfect place to raise our family for the long haul :)  It is much bigger than our current home and provides more flexible space that we can use for a variety of purposes as time passes.  We negotiated back and forth with the sellers to settle on an asking price (while Dan was away in Colorado!), went through the inspection process, negotiated again with the sellers to figure out inspection recommendations, and finally signed the Purchase and Sale agreement last night. As of now, we will close on my birthday, July 30th!!

The other part of this story is that once we were under agreement for the new house, we began prepping our current house to be sold ASAP.  After walking through the house with our seller's agent, quickly writing down all her recommendations, we made a HUGE to-do list and have been working our way through it.  Hiring a landscaper, decluttering basement, cleaning, packing boxes, etc.  As we speak, some nice guys are taking many of our belongings to a storage unit so that our house seems "open" and "spacious" and "neat."  To be honest, I bet we won't miss most of this stuff...and the house looks awesome!  Our plan is to get our house the market by mid-week and host open houses next weekend.  I'm so proud of all the work we have done with limited time due to work schedules, a toddler, and one of us being quite pregnant.  Cleaners come Monday to make the place sparkle and we have to do our best not to mess it up...which probably means eating on paper plates outside on the deck and cooking most meals on the grill or ordering out.

Ideally, the house will sell quickly at a price point we are comfortable with and then we will be able to relax and welcome Finley's baby sister without having to worry about cleaning up after ourselves 24-7. Wishful thinking perhaps, but that is the frame of mind we are going with!!

Only picture to go along with this update is one my sister took when we went to look at the new house after putting in the initial offer.  Finley and I are in the kitchen (which I can't wait to cook in!) and he was asking about the baby :)
We certainly have our hands full at the moment, so please cross your fingers for us and I will keep you updated on all the news coming from our corner of the world :) Plus, if you know anyone looking for a nice, 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath home in the metro-west area of Boston...
