Free Standing!

Finley's been doing this for a week or so, but we had failed to get it on camera until Saturday. It takes two of us to capture Finley standing solo since one of us gets him steady and then backs away while the other person snaps photos or films.

Finley has always loves to stand up, even when he was just a few months old--he enjoyed being held up while he straightened his legs. For a while we were convinced he'd walk before he learned to sit or crawl, but luckily that didn't happen. He's great at pulling himself up to stand on us, the couch, the coffee table, the side of the tub, his toy box, and even the toilet (lid down, of course), but now he likes to pull himself up and then let go so he's standing on his own. He's also able to do this holding one or two toys, pretty impressive balance!

Hooray for standing!
Cute picture even with closed eyes, can you sense his excitement?
With toys!

We were so excited to get a video and some cute pictures of this latest development, but of course just before dinner tonight Finley outdid himself and made this yet-to-be-written blog outdated. While playing with a bunch of bowls and measuring spoons in the kitchen, he got up on one knee (another recent skill acquisition) and then got into a squatting position...and then stood up all on his own! With a spoon in his hand!! WOW! It was awesome! He's literally growing before our eyes and as we close in on his one year birthday next month, he is becoming more and more of a toddler than a baby. What will this week bring? Stay tuned!
