Dagny had a little friend over all day this Wednesday and it was probably the first true playdate that she ever had in which she and a friend entertained themselves and I was left to my own devices!! These little cuties look amazingly similar and yet they are almost exactly one year apart (Dagny is the younger of the two). Finley's at the same camp as this playmate's older brother, the girls go to the same preschool, her mom and I are friends and running buddies, and we were pleased to help with some childcare this week!
After two hours of play in the playroom and basement when all they needed from me was some fort construction on the basement couch, they came up for a snack. Then, they created a "hideout" between the couch and the fireplace in the family room which basically involved bringing a HUGE assortment of toys and towels and arranging them "just so." It was awesome to listen to them from across the room as I did some pre-school label making on the computer.
Since it was almost 90 degrees out, we took the fun outside.
I've gotten to know this look all too well lately, can you tell she's serious?
Soapy fun!
Then, she proceeded to put on soapy shinguards and cleats before scoring a goal in the sprinkler.
Lunch at Johnny Rockets!
They didn't take advantage of outnumbering me and even remained somewhat chill while waiting for their food.
It was a great day and neat to see Dagny being a good friend - sharing, laughing, dancing, making up silly stories, following her friend's lead, and making up hysterical play scenarios. Perhaps this is how she is at school with her little classmates all day - I can hope!
