Cousins Reunite!!!

Uncle Chris, Aunt Bronwyn, Owen and Natalie came down for the day on the 4th to celebrate the holiday and Dagny's first birthday with us.  There was cousin-mania inside and out and it was such fun to see all four of them together bounding around!

In the lake:
 On the porch:
Natalie and Dagny had fun together!

On the boat and at the beach:
 On the couch:
The boys were pretending to sleep and then snore so loud that they would wake each other up!

Dagny Turns One!!

We had a HUGE birthday dinner and it was so fun to have all of us together for the first time since Dagny arrived last July!
Dagny inhaled her grilled hot dog and a bunch of tomato and cucumber pieces, it was as if she knew dessert was worth eating dinner for!

Owen asked for a photograph and then smiled just perfectly!
Finley wanted a picture, too, but gave us this hysterical face instead of a smile!
After everyone had eaten and the big kids took a break to play downstairs, we called them up for cake!

After the singing, Finley was eager to help Dagny blow out her candle.
Love that watermelon cake!
My mom baked the cake, after dying the batter watermelon pink :)
Then, she and Caitlin frosted it and added the chocolate chips as seeds while we were at the ER the night before. It turned out awesome and delicious!
I cut the cake and gave Dagny her very first slice!
She ate it super neatly at first.
But soon the frosting got the best of her!

The other guests also enjoyed the cake!
Dagny opened her gifts and everyone ran around high on fake-pink cake!
At home, Dagny opened a big gift from Grammy and Granddad :)
The present was fun for Dagny and the box was fun for her big brother :)
 Happy 1st Birthday, Dagny!!

First Morning at the Beach

Despite the cloudy weather, we hopped in the boat and headed over to the beach.  Dagny looked pretty cute in her beach wear, but she needed a snack before diving into the sand.
She loved scooping sand with her shovel, putting it in her bucket, and then dumping the sand all over herself.
Dan got to work in the sand as well.
Granddad and Finley started making some sandcastles and my dad was careful to tell Finley to not knock over the castles since they just made them.

But then, they both bounded off to do something else...destructo!
As fast as Granddad could build them...
Dagny knocked them down!
Granddad was a good sport and just kept making more for Dagny to crush.
She would have stayed all day!
We did want her to experience the lake, too, though.

She wasn't thrilled, but did okay while holding onto a rake and her dad.
